Under the lead of Taiwan’s National Palace Museum, art duplication industry in Taiwan has begun to perform brilliantly in recent years. National Palace Museum has actively presented the historical duplicated merchandise to the mass market since this year. Japan-based Epson and other foreign and local enterprises, such as Artkey (Artkey Art Licensing Center), have gradually obtained National Palace Museum’s authorization of duplication and started to promote business opportunity for art licensing with great exertion. It is estimated that the business opportunity worldwide for art licensing has reached 18,000,000,000 USD and that such business opportunity will keep increasing at the rate of 15% for each future year.

 

National Palace Museum expressed that a large quantity of cultural and historical relics will be moved out for exhibition outside the Palace. There will be stores established for the sale of such art merchandise in airports and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Stores around the island, Ta Lee Isetan Department Store in Kaohsiung, and Hsinchu City Cultural Affairs Bureau. Likewise, promotion center for cultural relics of National Museum Palace will be established in Living Mall for the exhibition and sale of book and painting publications, duplicated paintings and sculpture, and all kinds of souvenirs and disks. National Museum Palace initially estimated that the turnover of the above-mentioned merchandise would reach above NT$ 100,000,000 and would increase at the rate of 14% for each year.

 

Under the lead of National Palace Museum, other museums and art galleries also keep up with the digitization process so as to bring prosperity to the digitization culture industry in Taiwan. (2003.12)
