The Asian Headquarter of Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block (美商康寧) was moved from Tokyo to the Central Taiwan Science-Based Industrial Park.

Thanks to the raised investment of 200 billion NT dollars made by AU Optronics Corp. (友達光電) to the Central Taiwan Science-Based Industrial Park, the cluster effect exerts an influence on the photoelectric industries. The Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block also applied for 35-hectare land and invested 20 billion NT dollars to set up glass factory; besides, it moved its Asian headquarter from Tokyo, Japan to the Central Taiwan Science-Based Industrial Park. The second biggest glass factory “ASAHI Glass Co., Ltd” (日本旭硝子), which ranked merely lower than the Pittsburgh Corning Glass Block, also visited the Central Taiwan Science-Based Industrial Park three times, expressing its willingness to invest 20 billion NT dollars for the purpose of setting up its factory in the Central Taiwan Science-Based Industrial Park, Yun-Lin base.
