ITRI sending out its technology to promote “outside business”

ITRI, promoting its “outside business” very aggressively, scheduled to found spin-off and start-up companies jointly with private enterprises from 2003 to 2008.  It anticipated founding 300 companies within the six-year term.  In its opinion, this can help its technical teams create outside business and the metabolism of its internal manpower resources.  What is most important, this can encourage industrial sectors to invest capitals and be considered as a strategy capable of creating a win-win-win situation for ITRI, employees and industrial sectors.

The spin-off companies include United Microelectronics Corp., Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and Taiwan Mask Corporation, which were formed through the transfer of ITRI’s technology and team members to private enterprises.  The start-up companies were formed through the transfer of ITRI’s technology to private enterprises, such as Winbound Electronic Corporation and Accton Technology Corporation, et al.
