Taiwan is negotiating with Czech Republic for inking of judicial cooperation pact

E021230Y5 Jan. 2003(E41)

Taiwan’s boost to international judicial cooperation has been stretched out to Europe.  Reportedly, the judicial competent authority is negotiating with Czech Republic in this regard.  Meanwhile, the Department of Justice of Czech Republic has also proclaimed that not any barrier towards judicial cooperation and reciprocity is existing between the both countries.

For the time being, Taiwan has only concluded a judicial pack with US.  Therefore, if Taiwan succeeds in inking such a pact with Czech Republic, this will set a precedent for the judicial cooperation between Taiwan and European countries.

Relevant judicial officials said that in addition to the negotiation with Czech Republic for judicial cooperation, several European countries, such as Switzerland, et al., also showed their willingness to ink a memorandum of understanding on judicial cooperation by following the model for Taiwan and US cooperation.
