Government and opposition parties agreed to pass the amendment to Electronic Game Regulation Act

   The Legislative Yuan passed the draft of amendment to Electronic Game Regulation Act agreed by the Government and opposition parties through negotiations on December 20, 2001, which provides that business places of the electronic game should not be situated within 50 meters distance from junior high schools, elementary schools, senior high schools, vocational schools or hospitals.  Additionally, recognized social welfare juridical persons can apply for establishing public welfare procurement stations engaged in recycling prizes of electronic game stores.  The local governments may reserve one half of the subcharge which county and city governments collect from the procurement stations as a special fund for social welfare.
