After many years of efforts, the board of directors of OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) passed on December 20, 2001 that “Chinese Taipei” will become an observer in the Committee on Competition Law and Policy, OECD.  The Fair Trade Commission of the Executive Yuan indicated that it is the first time for this country to join the unit of the OECD and it is also another successful entry to an international organization subsequent to this country’s accession to the WTO.  The said fact manifests that this country has taken an important step toward applying for a formal member of the OECD in the future.
