The situation that China bike companies infringe Taiwanese companies’ intellectual property rights is more rampant in Shanghai, China International Bicycle Fair that just finished. Many Taiwanese companies, including Merida, FLEBIKE, Promax, Falcon, and JOY, etc., were imitated by Chinese companies regarding the appearance of their products and patented technique.

The domestic biggest manufacturer of motor of electronic bikes, FLEBIKE, expressed yesterday that “90% of motor and electromotor factories in Shanghai bicycle fair are under suspicion of infringing the said company’s patents. FLEBIKE has collected evidence on the scene and has entrusted attorneys to handle this matter, and demanding these factories to purchase spare parts of main body of motor from FLEBIKE, otherwise, FLEBIKE will file a lawsuit of compensation for infringement.”

JOY is the biggest domestic hub manufacturer, who expressed that “China bike companies’ counterfeit situation of this year is more rampant than the past few years. Besides, it happens at the international bike fair, witch is a formal fair, and thus these companies disregarded all laws and regulations. Many European bike companies, which were counterfeited, were too angry to take pictures of these China companies’ booths so that they may use such pictures as evidence when filing a complaint in the future. In addition, they also demanded the hosting unit to have the counterfeit products off the shelf immediately so as to produce impeding effect” (2005.5)
