In order to assist companies in fighting foreign patent complaint, the government decided to extend “Main points for loan of international patent complaint,” which has been executed for one year, to one more year, and also expanded the applicable scope from compliant to arbitration and mediation. The council for economic planning and development will prompt Financial Supervisory Commission to communicate with financial institutions timely, requesting them not to make tight money policy against companies under lawsuit so as to lower impact of international patent dispute on companies to the lowest degree.

 

The council for economic planning and development provides NT$100,000,000 as guarantee form China and U.S. foundation for this project finance plan, which may be expected to provide an amount of NT$500,000,0000. After NT$120,000,000 was used in the last year, there are NT$370,000,000 can be provided for apply, and if companies have need after one year of the extension, the government may consider to establish this project as a normal course. In this regard, the council for economic planning and development expressed that since companies worry about the pressure of tight money policy after the correspondent bank knew its involvement in patent lawsuit, they are adopting a “wait-and-see” attitude towards and would rather dealing with international patent lawsuit by their own capitals.
