The Worth of Goods Infringing Intellectual Property Right Seized by the Police in Last Year Reaches the Historic High.

According to the statistics released by National Police Agency, the cases regarding intellectual property right infringement raided by the police in last year (2003) amounted to 4660 cases, in which there were 5713 suspects and the worth of the seized infringing goods reached to $12,622,000,000. Compared with the statistics in 2002 (there were 6269 cases and 5118 suspects), there is a decrease of 458 cases and 556 suspects, while there is an increase of $2,612,000,000 in the worth of infringing goods. Such a number indicates the Taiwanese government’s determined efforts and brilliant result in the raid action against intellectual property right infringement. (2004.01)
