The Legislative Yuan passes the amendment of the Medical Treatment Law Specialized tribunals are to be set for medical treatment disputes

The Medical Treatment Law has gone through its first major amendment in twenty years. The Legislative Yuan passed the third reading of ‘Medical Treatment Law’ yesterday. The Judicial Yuan is to assign courts for the establishment of professional tribunals specializing in medical affairs. Judges with relevant professional knowledge or tribunal experiences will be designated to conduct interrogations on medical issues in dispute. Further, medical institutions will have to provide names, licenses and other relevant information of doctors’ to the central authority for their medical advertisements. Finally, patients are entitled to request a copy of their medical report along with an abstract written in Chinese. (2003.04)
