Criminal Law Amendment; Intentions of enacting Law for ‘false representation’

To eradicate the ‘white collar crime’ and flat lies given by the defendants or witnesses hindering investigation, the Ministry of Justice considers to enact a law against ‘ false representation’, where deponents or the suspects who gave a misrepresentation or provide false information shall be punished severely, with criminal sanction or /and monetary penalty. The Ministry of Justice has indicated that the range of the ‘false representation ‘ shall apply not only but also to investigation or trial stages under the Judicial authority, instead, public authorities’ or administrative authorities’ (ex. Legislative Yuen) investigation and testify …etc, shall apply to this as well. (2003.04)
