Ministry of Economic Affairs Schemes Out Nano Mark.

The market has been flooded with the products claimed to be manufactured by nanotech in recent years, whereas the authorities concerned are harassed for having no examination and accreditation system to check on nano products for the consumer. For this reason, Industrial Development Bureau of Ministry of Economic Affairs will expedite the establishment of nano mark and examination and accreditation system, thus actualizing standardization of nano products in Taiwanese market. Department of Industrial Technology of Industrial Development Bureau entrusts Nano Technology Research Center of Industrial Technology Research Institute and Center for Measurement Standards to scheme out an examination and accreditation system of nano mark, and evaluate the practicability of nano mark system. All the preliminary projects of this scheme have been accomplished by the end of February 2004. The first nano mark application will be able to be accepted in this year the soonest and will serve as an examination basis of all kinds of nano products.

Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection, Ministry of Economic Affairs has publicly accepted the assessment of nano photocatalysis products, component analysis, and all kinds of function tests of photocatalysis. Such function tests, however, only target the products submitted by manufacturers, Consumers Protection Commission, and the court, and the test reports will not be provided to the consumer for reference.
