The Ministry of Economic drafted “digital Content Industry Development Regulations”.

In order to develop domestic content industry, the ministry of Economics has decided to follow the example of South Korea, Japan, and to draw up a special law “Regulations of Digital Content Industry Development” to bring in more talents and other special treatment to protect patent right. This will be the first law set up for a single industry once the draft is passed.

Officials in the Ministry of Finance stated that, the digital industry in Taiwan could be classify into 8 categories: network service, animation, games, digitized learning, electronic commerce, content soft ware, digital reservation publication, image and sound; the annual sales reached approximately NT$180,000,000, but the majority of them are the application of digital content, the annual worth of the core products of the digital content is merely 10 billion NT dollars which does not even reach a half of the amount South Korea produced.
