Swiss Federal Tribunal defines us as a country.

E040519Z9 Mar. 2004(E55)

Wang Chuan-Pu, the person who was implicated in serving as the white glove in the abusing purchasing case of La Fayette, and has been remaining abroad rather unwillingly filed a complaint to the Swiss Federal Tribunal against his account in UBSAG being blocked by Taiwanese Government, and petition for the removing of the interdict of having his enormous amount of savings in 46 accounts in UBSAG to be blocked. Against this, Taipei time, yesterday afternoon, the Swiss Federal Tribunal has promulgated a written judgment in their official website regarding its decision of overruling Wang Chuan-Pu’s complaint. In the written judgment, it has detailed down the outlay for US$0.92 billion in total that a French company – Thomson CSF remitted to Wang Chuan-Pu, in which, they considered that US$0.5 billion out of all is the related commission for the abusing purchasing case of La Fayette, it did not state in the written judgment where the rest of US$0.4 gone and whether the money had gone to some particular countries and their officials, or the money is the commission from other purchasing case for the armed forces.

It is worth paying the respect to the fact that, the Swiss Federal Tribunal spent 5 pages on the description of how Taiwan has applied itself in the criteria of constituting a country examining from its scale of population, its highly developed economy and other conditions, although they do not have any diplomatic relation with us. Therefore, the Swiss Federal Tribunal still agreed to proceed with the judicial cooperation with us, and dismiss Wang Chuan-Pu’s complaint. (2004.05)
