New key site for IC design; Nankang SoC Professional Park comes to existence in March

    The second-phase plan of the Nankang Software Park is to establish a park area only for SoC (System on Chip) where the first company will be Sony.  Sony plans to establish a semiconductor research center and invest NT$3 billion in the following three years to develop large-scale integrated circuit and module. 

 

    To become a new key site for IC design, Nankang IC Design and R&D Center will include an open-to-all laboratory, an R&D Incubation Center, and relevant EDA (Electronic Design Aid) providers, the most essential part in the process of IC design. 

 

In addition to attracting well-known IC design companies from the U.S. or Japan to set up R&D centers in Taiwan, the Industrial Development Bureau is also to introduce downstream industries to manufacture, package and test semi-conductor, as well as supportive services providers such as venture capital companies and IPR services providers to offer related and nearby services to upstream industries and create clustering effect.
