“Popular Group” (大眾集團) Produces e-books On Behalf Of Panasonic;　Large Quantity Can Be Produced This Month.

“Popular Group” obtained the purchasing order of e-book from Panasonic. The large quantity of e-books can be produced and exported this month. “Popular Group” scheduled to export the scope of 130,000 e-books next year; Panasonic would enter the e-book market in Japan and China so as to compete with other e-book manufacturers like Sony group and so on.

 

Panasonic has allied with more than 80 publishers in Japan market so as to enter the e-book market. At the preliminary stage, Panasonic would cooperate with large bookstores and publishers in Japan to publish their e-books. The contents of the e-book will be focused on the digitalized books or comic books. The selling price of the e-book will be around 60% of the real books. In the future, the contents will include textbooks, news, magazines and so on.

 

The selling price of theΣBOOK at the preliminary stage was fixed at the price of 39,800￥ per piece. The next goal for “Popular Group” was to publish the single pageΣBOOK in China (the models sold in the Japan market were double pages and can be leafed), which would save more cost. Besides, the selling price of the saidΣBOOK would be merely half the price of the current products. At the same time, the saidΣBOOK would be the first model in the world that encrypts the digital contents with SD card which could achieve the protection mechanism of copyright and prevent the e-book from being inappropriately utilized.
