IP Protection & Action Year; the industrial and commercial circles announce a self-discipline declaration

After this country becomes a formal WTO member, it announces that this year is the IP Protection & Action Year to demonstrate its determination to raid counterfeiting activities.  The national industrial and commercial circles will announce a self-discipline declaration this morning at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and begin “public activities to crush counterfeits” in hope of reconciling the pressure from the U.S. 301 retaliation.

The Executive Yuan has announced this year as the IP Protection & Action Year.  The Prosecutor’s Office of Taiwan High Court, Ministry of Justice will make a “special report on raid actions in the IP Protection & Action Year” to uniformly command various prosecutor’s offices and investigation units to searches pirated optical disks and software.  Meanwhile, the Ministry of Economic Affairs has strengthened propaganda and guidance, and coordinated the relevant obligees or group to exercise their rights in accordance with the law.  The Executive Yuan has also set up the “National Information & Communications Infrastructure” (“NICI”) to be responsible for positive motions and periodical control and check.
