E020221Y6 Mar. 2002(E31)

The Ministry of Justice (“MOJ”) formally announced yesterday (2)) that it would add a special chapter about cybercrime in the draft of amendments to the Criminal Law, and it would hold the 4th meeting to discussion in recently days to draft concrete articles of law.  It is pointed out that although the MOJ has acquired a model for the substantial law in respect of the special chapter about cybercrime added to the amendments to the Criminal Law, there are many pending problems.  With the support of Minister Chen Ting-nan, the MOJ is currently working on the enactment of articles and the difficulties in producing and collecting evidence by prosecutors in litigation procedure.  Besides, the MOJ has vigorously trained prosecutors who will deal with special cases about cybercrime. Minister Chen Ting-nan personally signed with National Chiao Tung University a three-year cooperation program for exchange of procuratorial work and sci-tech learning.
