Taiwan Business Software Alliance, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Information Service Industry Association jointly originated “Enterprises’ Anti-piracy Actions” yesterday (14th). From May 1, searches on enterprises who use pirated software will be strengthened and the reward for accusation will be up to one million dollars.  The “Enterprises’ Anti-piracy Actions” have been propagated at once for a period of forty-five days. Thereafter, the actions will be taken in coordination with the government to guide enterprises to establish audit of internal management and protection of the IP rights of software.

Minister Chen Ting-Nan of the Ministry of Justice (“MOJ”) addressed that the MOJ had approved a special project on searches to coordinate with the project on “Year for IP Rights Protection” given by the Executive Yuan. The Prosecutor’s Office of the Taiwan High Court will command prosecutor’s offices and police authorities to strictly wipe out counterfeiting activities. The anti-piracy actions currently taken in Taichung will continually be taken in Kaohsiung and Taipei.
