National Technology Act to have severer sentence to deter commercial espionage

To formulate a national technology protection system to prevent the our national technologies resulting from R&D efforts from being sneaked to foreign countries and thus diminishing the competitiveness of our technology industry, the Executive Yuan, when recently reviewing the draft National Technology Protection Act submitted by the National Science Council, decided to increase the maximum sentence on relevant unlawful activities from originally proposed 2 years to 5 years, in order to deter commercial spies from sneaking our self-developed national technology.
