A step toward the way to become an Asia-Pacific regional operation center for bio-tech and pharmaceutical industries

In recent years, traditional industries in Taiwan have gradually transformed into high-tech industries and reached remarkable achievements such as information industry in the 80's and semi-conductor industry in the second half of 90's.  With the leap into the 21st century, the government has established the "Task Team for the Promotion of Bio-Tech and Pharmaceutical Industries" to actively promote the two industries which both have advantages such as low power-consuming, low-pollution, high-capital, technology intensive, and high added-value, and thus to broaden Taiwan's international stage and upgrade domestic industries' competitiveness among the international.  The establishment of said team is to promote industrial investment, to break through industrial bottleneck, and to enable Taiwan to become the operation center for the R&D and manufacture of bio-technology and pharmaceutical industries in the Asia-Pacific region.
