R.O.C. Nationals Entitled to Priority Protection on Patent and Trademark

According to Hong Kong Gazette, the Hong Kong Government, for the purpose of reflecting the development of the Paris Convention and WTO membership, amended related ordinances and rules attached with intellectual property laws on May 17, 2002 and referred the amendment to the Legislative Council for examination on May 22, 2002. The amendment is scheduled to be enforced since July 11, 2002. Accordingly, R.O.C. nationals will be entitled to the priority protection provided by Hong Kong’s Patent Ordinance, Trademark Ordinance and Registered Design Ordinance.
