PRC technology talents may be invited to work in Taiwan; relevant regulations scheduled to be promulgated and implemented before end of August

The Council for Economic Planning and Development has drawn up the draft "Regulations of Employing International Heavyweight Technology Talents".  Responsible persons, CEOs and technology talents of renowned PRC enterprises will be allowed to work in Taiwan under invitation.  Said Regulations is scheduled to be promulgated and take effect before the end of August.  

 

The draft "Regulations of Employing International Heavyweight Technology Talents" is aimed at heavyweight technology talents, including winners of Nobel Prize, national academician, responsible persons or CEOs of corporations making not less than US$1bn annually, hosts of major national projects, as well as others equipped with special talents.  They may be employed for a maximum of three years, taking on jobs for researching and developing advanced technologies in government departments, academic institutes or private sectors.  According to an official from the CEPD, the CEPD's current plan does not rule out nationals and corporate owners of PRC from said Regulations.  That is, they may also be invited to work in Taiwan if they meet requirements.
