18 Taiwanese products' output value made world's No.1

ITIS (Industrial Technology Information Service) plan announced on June 19 the "list of Taiwanese products made world's Top 3 in 2001".  Eighteen items made No.1, fourteen No.2 and eight No.3 in terms of their value of output, capacity or export value.  Most of those that made world's Top 3 for the first time are products in the fields of semiconductors, optoelectronics and communication, which further highlights Taiwan's importance from the viewpoint of global information components.   

 

Among the eighteen products ranked as world's No.1, 80% of them are electronic information products, including OEM wafer, mask-ROM, and IC packaging in semiconductor industry.  The five new products made world's Top 3 in the year 2001 are LCD monitor, WLAN, ADSL modem, DRAM and electric bicycle.
