IFPI Urge Taiwan to Strengthen Raid Against CD-R Piracy

IFPI called on yesterday (July 10) the Taiwan Government and CD-R manufacturers to pay much attention to the gravity of the problem that blank optical disks which have become global piracy criminals’ tools.  IPFI hoped that the Government can strengthen the raid action against criminal activities of piracy and also suggested that the Taiwanese CD-R manufacturers should print serial numbers on each piece of blank optical disk in order to help the future tracing.

 

According to IFPI, Taiwan is the globally largest CD-R production country (the output accounts for more than 80% of the global market) and it is estimated that one-fourths of the CD-Rs manufactured by Taiwan in 2001 have became the piracy criminals’ tools.
