Breakthrough Development in Cross-Strait Research of EVD technology

In order to get rid of the annual payment of royalty due to European & Japanese manufacturers, the cross-strait optical storage industries’ joint research of EVD (Enchanced VersatileDisc) technology has created a breakthrough development lately.  With the development, all EVD specifications were confirmed for the first time.  Some of them were created jointly by the cross-strait industries themselves.  It is anticipated that EVD optical discs and EVD-ROM drives can hit the market after the critical parts accessory to various CD-ROM drives are developed at the end of 2002 or at the beginning of 2003.
