Dr. Hwang, Tzong-Leh, Chairman of the Fair Trade Committee, the Executive Yuan announced on August 2 that the FTC had officially entered into a three-side cooperation agreement on competition & fair trade policies with New Zealand and Australia on July 30 under the name of "Taiwan" - the first time in history.  In addition to the exchange of talents and information on competition policy, future cooperation may include that against enterprise monopoly, which is also known as "hard-core cartel", in an effort to prevent consumers' interest from being damaged.  This is a major achievement since Taiwan acceded into the Competition Committee of Organization for Economic Corporation & Development (OECD) as an observer last January.

In the future, the FTC will work on signing bilateral or multi-lateral cooperation agreements on competition laws with the US, European Union, and Russia, Dr. Hwang stressed.
