Upon appointment by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (“ITRI”) formally set up the Intelligent Home Electronics Industry R&D Alliance (the “Alliance”) on August 14. Seven companies including TECO Corp., Sampo, Kolin, Tatung, Taiwan Hitachi, Matsushita Electric (Taiwan) Co., Ltd. and Deal-Tec Corporation announced to participate in the Alliance. The Alliance will continually hold communications module working meetings, communications standard working meetings and new specification product working meetings. The Alliance will also hold seminars and technology forums and it expects to declare the Alliance’s R&D outcomes in the November electronic exhibition and the December information exhibition.

The ITRI carried out a three-year program for key technical development for the electric machinery industry in a special scientific and technologic case. Intellectualization of home electronics and joint technical development are crucial working items of the aforementioned program.  Now the Alliance has set up the technology for the communications module of power supply jointly applied to domestic intelligent home electronics.  Such technology enables traditional home appliances to become digitalized and intelligent home electronics with the function of communicating messages to create limitless commercial opportunities.
