Transshipment of Goods Originated From Mainland China to be Open Entirely

E020905Y8 Oct. 2002(E38)

The Board of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Affairs indicated on September 4, 2002 that about 2,000 kinds of goods originated from Mainland China are still banned from being transshipped from the ports other than Kaohsiung Harbor for the time being and this is detrimental to the plan to build Taiwan to be a global logistics center.  The Ministry of Economic Affairs is now programming to allow the “unopened” Mainland goods to be transshipped from all of the ports in Taiwan (without needing to have them reconditioned or processed).  It is anticipated that the ban can be lifted in October at soonest.

According to the requirement presently applicable, the “unopened” Mainland goods are allowed to be transshipped from bonded warehouses or shipping centers at any ports after being reconditioned or processed, while those which are not reconditioned or processed are banned from being transshipped from the ports without exception.
