EPSON to set up a optoelectronics technology center in Taiwan

Epson Taiwan Technology & Trading Ltd. announced during the 20th Anniversary Celebration that it would establish five business groups including image technology, electronic components, international procurement, optoelectronics designing center and images solution provider, and it would challenge to raise its business revenues from 20 billion to 50 billion. Particularly, Epson will set up the headquarters of international procurement in Taiwan and the value of procurement from Taiwan will grow up from 10 billion in 2002 to 25 billion.

 

Meanwhile, Saburo Kusama – President of EPSON Global Group announced on Nov 22 that an optoelectronics technology center would be set up in Taiwan with annual investment of 0.2 billion to provide designing services about LCD appliances, mobile phones, PDA, LCD monitors, LCD projectors for clients in the Greater China.

 

He pointed out that the optoelectronics technology center in Taiwan would still take the crucial responsibility for development of commercialization, and Epson Japan would mainly focus on long-term basic and central research and development.  The two will complement each other. Epson Taiwan will combine the past LCD and LSI designing centers into one and strengthen consistent production procedures for semiconductor products such as ASIC and SOC from designing, developing, processing, sealing, packaging, and testing, etc. in Taiwan.
