With Hitachi Displays’ technical support, HanStar put into production of LCD-TV panels at HanStar’s 5th Generation FAB for manufacturing TFT-LCD panels

HanStar Display Corporation and Hitachi Displays, Ltd. of Japan strategically signed the Technical Collaboration Agreement. With Hitachi Displays’ overall support in terms of technologies and patents, HanStar’s 5^th Generation FAB for manufacturing TFT-LCd panels will completely put into production of LCD-TV panels. HanStar also plans to skip the 6^th Generation FAB but directly build up the 7^th Generation FAB and the investment amount is preliminarily estimated at 50 billion.

With Hitachi Displays’ technologies as backing, HanStar will launch panels for 15” and 17” LCD-TVs in the 1^st quarter of 2003 and panels for 19” and 23” LCD-TVs and high-end notebooks in the 2^nd quarter of 2003.  The layout of HanStar’s product lines will be led to development in the field of highly added value.
