AU Optronics invests 2 billion to set up the biggest optoelectronics R&D center in Taiwan

AU Optronics Corp. (‘AUO”) will invest 2 billion to set up AU Technlogy Center to strengthen development of new products so as to secure its 5^th Generation FAB for LCD panels and its competitiveness for new generation of flat displays. The Center will occupy an area of about 70,000 sq. ft. and it will be the biggest optoelectronics R&D center in Taiwan.

AUO currently ranks the 1^st biggest locally and the 3^rd biggest worldwide manufacturer of LCD panels. Meanwhile, it is the only manufacturer in Taiwan who owns production lines for LCD panels at big and small sizes. AUO is also aggressively developing flat displays such as OLED, PDP and LTPS.
