In Taiwan, it has gradually become a rule for sales outlets to pay for publicly broadcasting radio programs.  The Department Stores & Retailers Association signed a license agreement concerning broadcasting music in sales outlets with the Copyright Owners Alliance in early December.  Thereafter, President Chain Store Corp. (7-11), the biggest chain-store channel, will enter into an agreement for using raid programs in sales outlets with the Intermediary Organization of Copyright of Musical Works in recent days.

In October this year, chain stores had negotiated with the Intermediary Organization of Copyright of Musical Works for license of the right to publicly broadcast musical works in sales outlets.  However, because the numerous intermediary groups were not unified and the prices they demanded were inconsistent, the negotiations were fruitless.  Given that President Chain Store Corp is the head of chain stores, it is expected that the agreement it is going to sign will produce the effect of an index on the other fellows in the same trade.
