Draft Patent Agent Law to be deliberated by the Executive Yuan

    The draft Patent Agent Law, which is closely related to the protection of intellectual property rights in Taiwan, was officially sent to the Executive Yuan for deliberation.  According to the Intellectual Property Office of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the system provided in the said draft is a patent attorney/agent double track system.  In the future, patent affairs should in principle be handled by those who have passed patent agent exam and acquired certificate thereof.  Those who have registered as patent attorneys may still practice patent law in the future.  However, there will be no application for patent attorney registration after the Patent Agent Law is promulgated and takes effect.
