Taiwan External Trade Development Council’s Participation in Overseas Exhibitions with Counselors to Provide IP Legal Consulting Service.

E060414Y6 May. 2006(E78)

Triggered by the event that the Taiwanese corporate exhibitor’s exhibitive products were seized in the CeBIT Exhibition held in Hannover, Germany due to IP dispute, appropriate legal service will be rendered to Taiwanese corporate exhibitors in overseas exhibitions and Taiwan External Trade Development Council will commission local attorneys with expertise in IP field, if necessary, to assist the corporate exhibitors in settling the matter of laws and avoiding any prejudice to the corporate exhibitors, said the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

At the CeBIT Exhibition held in Hannover, Germany running from March 9 to March 15, 2006, Taiwan topped the list of exhibitor lineup with 775 exhibitors and occupied a total exhibition space of 20000 square meters, as the biggest exhibiting country.  Such a global stage would be a fast track to presenting Taiwan’s products more prominently and expansively, while such international exposure, on the other hand, would easily and seriously impair the right of the corporate exhibitors and mar Taiwan’s international image if any IP dispute event arises.  In this regard, Taiwan External Trade Development Council decided not only to assist corporate exhibitors in interaction and negotiation with foreign buyers for expansion but also to provide legal consulting service in IP matters.  (2006.04)
