Business Software Alliance (BSA) cooperated in a police raid initiated by the 8th Investigation Brigade of the Criminal Investigation Bureau in October 2006 on the enterprises at Hsinchu Science Park for the first time and searched out evidence that revealed unlicensed use of much world-noted business software at the Park with seizures in record-high value.

BSA indicated in deep regret that the enterprises at Hsinchu Science Park have been featuring the industry-leading performance in Taiwan.  The company busted is engaged in semi-conductor designing which is supposed to see IP rights as the core value and to make the running in IP protection, while it is unexpectedly found suspected of reproducing and illegally using the business software of Agilent Technologies (安捷倫), Ansoft Corporation (恩碩), Autodesk, Inc. (歐等克), and Microsoft, etc.; the value of infringement was estimated to amount to over TWD100 million.

Relevant statistics says that 82% of the reports filed in the first half of 2006 for using unlicensed software are against those companies located in the 57 industrial parks or related thereto. (2006.11)
