According to TIPO’s statistics, since 2006 the number of China Enterprises’ applying for trademark registration in Taiwan has increased dramatically.  For the past two consecutive years, the total number of trademark registration is around 1,000 cases per year.  TIPO indicated that the investment trend for Chinese capital to invest in Taiwan has arisen from the government authorities’ strong promotion of relevant regulations governing the inflow of Chinese capital to Taiwan.  At the same time, the number of application for trademark registrations from Mainland China is also on the increasing trend.

Below is the table of statistics on the number of trademark registrations in Taiwan filed by Chinese capital.  The table is compiled by TIPO since 1993, starting with only 6 applications of trademark registrations to a record number of 895 cases in 2006.  In the consecutive years of 2007 and 2008, the number of registrations has come close to 1,000 cases per year.
