E091124Y1 Dec. 2009(E121)

The Intellectual Property Rights Police Team (IPRP) successfully uncovered and seized some 50,000 counterfeits of various brand automobile parts.  Li, the suspected counterfeiter who attempts to profit from the sharp demand for automobile parts in the aftermath of the 8 August 2009 flood had the counterfeits assembled locally and sold to the flood affected area for distribution.  The IPRP acted based on the conclusion of months of investigation.  The counterfeits bear well known automobile marks, including BMW, BENZ, LEXUS and PROSCHE.

The counterfeits seized have a total market value of about TWD50 million.  The trademark holders concerned are resolved on prosecuting Li with no settlement deal considered. (2009.11)
