SCET R&D Established in Kaohsiung. Taiwan Incubation Center Officially Opened.

Sony subsidiary Sony Computer Entertainment Taiwan (SCET) entered into Memorandum of Understanding with Cheng Uei Precision, a hardware system developing enterprise, and Trinity Investment Corporation, a software company invested by Institute for Information Industry.  Their joint cooperation in the field of game industry, cultural creative industry and digital content, etc. will enable Japan and Taiwan entering global markets and creating a new era. This marks the first time for SONY to have a sizeable investment project in Taiwan with respect to animation & game, which will provide a game developing platform for the highest technological PS series in the world.

SCET established an incubation center -- PlayStation Incubation Center Taiwan at Kaohsiung’s Pier-2 Art Center.  The Center was inaugurated on 20 October 2010 with the goal to nurture talent in the Taiwan game software industry.  Kaohsiung will become an import cradle for SONY group in the Taiwan game software industry.

Tetsuhiko Yasuda, President of SCET, indicated that its decision for investment in Taiwan is resulted from Taiwan’s efforts in asserting protection of IP rights, such efforts are widely recognized around the world.  Therefore, multinational enterprises such as SONY started investment in Taiwan.  SONY’s said investment has enabled the distribution of its famous Role-Playing Game in Taiwan in Chinese version.  Mr. Yasuda emphasized that the present investment environment in Taiwan is totally unforeseeable fifteen years ago.
