E101105Y8 Dec. 2010(E133)

In the “Doing Business 2011 Report” released by the World Bank, Singapore has been first on the list for five straight years.  Among the 183 countries covered, Taiwan has advanced from 46th place in 2009 to 33rd this year (2010) – a record high with an improvement of 13 positions.

The Executive Yuan indicated that Taiwan’s ranking continues to move upward for the past three years.  Taiwan ranked 61st place in 2008, up to 46th in 2009, and further leapt to 33rd place in 2010.  This trend reflects Taiwan government’s efforts in improving its business environment.

There is little change for the top 10 countries with respect to global ranking for business environment this year.  Most of the countries in the list are English-spoken ones, including Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, England, U.S.A., Denmark, Canada, Norway, Ireland and Australia.  (2010.11)
