On 4 November 2010, Wang Mei-Hua, the Director General of Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO) and Loredana Gulino, the Director General of the Italian Patent and Trademark Office signed the “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Combating Counterfeiting with the Purpose of Promoting the Awareness and Enforcement of IP Rights” in Taipei.  Italy is the fourth nation in the European region to enter into bilateral MOU with TIPO, following France, Spain and Czech Republic.

This MOU mainly covers reciprocal visits of delegates from both IP offices, exchange of valuable practices identified and implemented by each IP office, organization of seminars and activities, exchange of information, and provision of channels for the dissemination of information and services to users of both offices.  We believe that signing of the subject MOU will foster closer exchange and partnership between Italy and Taiwan, and further strengthen cooperation in innovation field to promote economic prosperity and development in both nations.

In order to strengthen bilateral relationships, TIPO has been active in recent years in the promotion of exchange and cooperation with European countries.  This aims to expand and develop closer cooperation with European nations.  (2010.11)
