The Department of Health of the Executive Yuan announced yesterday (November 13, 2001) that Taiwan and Europe Union had entered into the exchange of letters concerning the technical cooperation agreement for medical facility.  Accordingly, both parties will conduct the inspection on the other party’s medical facility based on the principle of reciprocity, so as to carry out the customs clearance without needing to check the manufacturer of the medical facility when the other party imports medical facility.  This is able to shorten the procedure of customs clearance by wide margin.  The Europe Union and U.S.A. have not yet entered into the exchange of letters for medical facility.  Taiwan is the first to enter into the exchange of letters for medical facility with the Europe Union in Asia.  This encourages the officials of the Department of Health greatly and proves that the quality of Taiwan’s medical facility has been approved internationally.  The cooperation of medical facility between Taiwan and Europe Union also requires that both parties will exchange the report on defective medical facility so as to protect the medical security of the nationals of the other party’s country.
