Police seize fake UTG sniper scope products

UTG stands for a well-known brand of sniper scope products made by the US-based Leapers, Inc., and the UTG brand is popular in the survival games industry.  However, counterfeit UTG products have been flooding the local market recently, for which Leapers, Inc. brought a suit with the second company of Criminal Investigation Brigade under the Second Special Police Corps, alleging that some local business operators have been selling counterfeit UTG sniper scope products (scopes for shooting).  The police initiated investigation and found that a man surnamed Wang (“Wang”) has been importing counterfeit UTG sniper scope products from China at the unit price of TWD1,000~TWD3,000 for sale to survival games players at the price of TWD5,000~TWD10,000 each product at local websites of survival games, on auction websites, and also in his own 8 chained stores.  The police have seized more than 200 counterfeit UTG sniper scopes and tactical grips which involved the value exceeding TWD3 million.  The police have referred this trademark act violation case to the relevant district prosecutors office for investigation.  (March 2016)
