Intel and Hon Hai join hands to develop 5G network

On May 31, 2016, at Computex Taipei 2016, Intel and Hon Hai announced their signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for jointly developing multiple Internet basic infrastructure which will enable communication service providers to easily modernize their communication structures and lay the foundation for 5G network.  

According to Intel, 5G network will bring a whole new chapter of life to people by assisting them in navigation in smart city and self-driving and causing a connected and networked society through new kind of industrial efficiency.  For fulfilling the goal, the Internet network must run in a way that is faster, more intelligent and more flexible to manage more kinds of connecting devices and networks.  A lot of suppliers have started to promote new digital services that will result in an unprecedented growth in the number and complexity of data transmission.  

Intel and Hon Hai will work together on this technology transformation by developing multiple Internet basic structure.  The two sides will collaborate to develop proof of concept and promote pilot programs for related technologies, including Mobile Edge Computing, CloudRAN, and Network Functions Virtualization that will enable more intelligent, efficient, and flexible networks.  (May 2016)
